Chat Up Lines That Do ACTUALLY Work!
Aug 27th, 2009 by savvyclub
Dear Friends,
Today’s blog is on an unlikely topic for The SaVVy Club®. We’re certainly and definitely NOT a dating club or service. However, our members have been known to take the opportunity to get to know each other better at an exclusive social event and outside of our circle. There’s nothing wrong with having a sweet and sincere way to break the ice, so although I’ve called them ‘chat up lines’, they’re really just social sweeteners.
You never know when a simple, honest line might help you to catch someone’s attention, so here’s some help for those of you that get tongue-tied around the opposite sex at social events.
THE HUMBLE COMPLIMENT: Yes, believe it or not, people love to hear something nice about them. Now, they will respond as if they don’t, and it’s far easier to believe an insult than a compliment, but if you honestly say something simple they will appreciate it. Try to avoid ‘Nice Top’, that might me misconstrued.
THE LEFT-FIELD: If you’re reasonably confident and you can pull this off without looking like the next Fred or Rosemary West, try something a little unusual. ‘Hi, you couldn’t lend me a couple of quid for the bus home, could you?’ might be a fun way to introduce yourself. Again, you do need the confidence to pull this off without looking like a weirdo.
THE FLOW: Make a seemingly harmless comment such as ‘Do you know if the next one goes to Clapham?’ Now, that’s just a simple question that allows you to make a follow up quip or joke. You can then build on that if you get clear ‘continue’ signals.
THE BOOKISH: If you have genuinely read the same book as the person you are approaching, you could make a mention. Did you read her ‘other’ thriller ‘Such and Such’? But don’t commit yourself; let the other person tell you what they thought so that you don’t end up disagreeing before you’ve begun.
THE CLASSIC: It’s a classic line, but it might just work. If you’re having a drink at the bar, and someone is alone, why not ask if they’d like a drink while you’re waiting.
If you’d like the opportunity to meet discerning company with similar interests and enjoy genuinely unique social events, then get in touch today by calling me on 0208 989 4886 – I love receiving phone calls!
Kind Regards
Kim Rix
