Benefits of Taking Dance Lessons as a Social Event
Jan 5th, 2010 by savvyclub
Dear friends,
I think there are very few people in the world that can say they have never danced. Whether it is in their front room, at their best friend’s wedding or at every opportunity there is something enjoyable about dancing that leaves you feeling energised, happy and sometimes exhausted!
If you’re looking for a regular social event that also gives you the opportunity to learn something new then I would strongly recommend finding a dance class. Shows like Strictly Come Dancing have opened up the world of dance once again and made finding and attending classes easier for adults. It’s also shown that anybody can move confidently and beautifully with a little training.
If you need any more convincing into taking up dance lessons then here are a few benefits of getting involved;
You can go alone!
About 99% of dance lessons are suitable for you to attend on your own. The main thing that stops people from taking the step is thinking you will need a partner – and that’s not true. Firstly there will be a whole class of people in the same boat and also you will have to learn certain steps by yourself before inflicting them on your partner!
It’s a great way to meet people.
As most people attend dance classes alone they go with an openness to speak to people and befriend others to socialise with. More and more gentleman are also realising it’s a great way to meet ladies – and they do get a fair bit of attention.
Its good fun
Dance classes are a structured but fairly informal environment. You are all learners so you get to mess up, do brilliantly, laugh together and roll your eyes together about what is being asked of you next. There is a great sense of fun and comradery.
Its good for your health
There are obvious health benefits to taking up dance lessons. 60 mins of light to moderate exercise will improve your fitness, flexibility and energy levels. Its also a lot more fun that the treadmill at the gym.
It leads to other opportunities
If you attend one of the many evening salsa classes you may also find that it opens up into an evening of drinks and dancing after class. Latin dance styles are fun, sociable and party dances which are great for an evening club. So you have further opportunities to meet new people or chat with your classmates.
Your friends will want to come too.
After you’ve been going a few weeks and speaking about it to friends and colleagues you will find they suddenly all seem to want to do it too! Everyone secretly wants to learn to dance and if they know they can do it in a fun environment and reap the social benefits they will join you in no time!
So whether its Latin, ballroom, contemporary or classic dance styles there are plenty of reasons to find a class and go regularly.
