Divorce Parties – Celebrate New Beginnings
Jan 12th, 2010 by savvyclub
Dear Friends,
As an experienced Party Planner & Events Organiser, I could quite happily organise a party or event for virtually any occasion (or excuse) you care to dream up. Today I would like to explore a relatively new concept here in the UK, best known as ‘Divorce Parties’. Personally, I like the idea of re-naming the concept to reflect a more positive outlook on life, such as ‘New Beginnings Parties’.
I can’t speak from experience and can only imagine that Divorce can be a horrible chapter in your life. Even if the split was amicable, it can be a painful experience to split possessions and finally sign the papers. Like most of life’s major chapters I don’t see why you shouldn’t celebrate this new beginning in your life.
Divorce Parties are growing in popularity and are an excellent way to blow off steam with friends and family and remind yourself of all the great things you have to look forward to. Whether you are male or female, there are plenty of party ideas out there.
Your Divorce or New Beginnings Party can take many forms. Here are a few suggestions that you might like to consider.
Trash The Dress Photo Shoot
Not so easy for the gents….but if you still have your wedding dress you can really let loose in this fantastic session. You and your friends can go wild in different scenarios designed to trash your dress. You can go swimming in the sea, throw paint all over it or cut it into sections and dress up your friends. If you work with a great photographer then they will be able to give you some ideas and provide you with some great photographs to remind you of the fun you had and mark the start of the new chapter!
Mix it with a Housewarming
You may have moved into a new home – either recently or since your separation. You might want to consider mixing in a housewarming party with your divorce party. It’s a double celebration of your independence and survival that also welcomes and invites your friends to visit you again. Of course you can theme it any way you want from fancy dress to the finer things. There are plenty of caterers who can provide you with excellent party foods and buffets if you want to save yourself the hassle.
Life Drawing Lesson
Get a group of friends together and enjoy an afternoon (or evening) of life drawing with an experienced tutor and a lovely model. You could enjoy champagne and canapés during the class if you wish and head off to a lovely meal later with your drawing under your arm. It’s all the rage over in Sydney, Australia

Cooking and Cocktails
There are plenty of cookery schools offering an afternoon, evening or even a day of tuition in the perfect dinner party menu, exquisite desserts, chocolate making and cocktail making. All of these courses have a short demo then you get to have a go yourself and enjoy the end product. You may have to work in pairs or groups at times and you are guaranteed a good laugh and an opportunity to catch up.
It may be just what you need.
Kind regards
