Chef’s Table – Top 3 in London
Jan 26th, 2010 by savvyclub
Dear friends of The SaVVy Club,
Eating out in London is usually a wonderful experience. There are hundreds of quality restaurants with great food and attentive service. We are creatures of habit and we like to visit some of the same places time and again because we know their quality and we enjoy the experience.
If you are looking for something different which is guaranteed to wow your dinner party then I would suggest you book one of London’s top Chef’s Tables. There is nothing like sitting amongst the hub of the kitchen and taking in all of the action around you. Although you will have the ability to chat amongst yourselves I could be sure it will be about the food and the chef’s around you!
Of course, my taste may differ from yours and there are restaurants serving foods from all over the world who will have a VIP table for you to enjoy. Much of it is down to what you like to eat, but I thought I would offer my top three which I can ensure will not disappoint.
Gordon Ramsay at Claridges
This celebrity chef is passionate about his cooking. If you have ever seen any of Ramsay’s television shows then you will know how his kitchen operates. Your table in the centre of Claridges kitchen seats 7 people.
On arrival you will be served with champagne and specially made canapes. You have the full attention of the head chef who will propose a meal based on the fresh market produce of the day.
Ramsay’s Head Sommelier will recommend wines to complement each course and you will be served with the usual care and attention of Claridges’ customers.
The bustle of the kitchen is enthralling and the chefs work like true artists. Your meal is presented to you so beautifully that you feel bad to have to touch it but the taste is exquisite. It’s all perfectly matched flavours and textures in the right portions.
Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley
Similar to Ramsay’s, on arrival you will be met with champagne and canapes before being escorted to the venue’s secret dining experience. Perfectly placed in the kitchen where you can see all of the action and artistry unfold before you, the chef’s table seats 8 people for lunch or dinner.
The Head Chef will talk through your menu and serve you predominantly classic French cuisine with a distinct modern, european take. Wines selected with the aid of the Head Sommelier will be served to you with each course (or as requested).
Voted as AA Chef’s Chef of the Year and awarded 2 Michelin stars in 2009 Marcus Wareing is exceeding expectations as every year goes by.
Angelus
Nestled comfortably in an air-conditioned area, overlooking all the heat of the kitchen is Angelus’ Chef’s Table. Seating up to six people the French cuisine here is very popular with London locals. The attention to detail and the extraordinary level of service and superb Sommelier skills bring this restaurant straight into my top three.
The dining ‘routine’ is similar to the others mentioned before. Wonderfully explained, artistically prepared, exquisitely presented and a true treat for your taste buds.
Kind regards,
Kim Rix
