Why I chose a career in Event Planning
Mar 3rd, 2010 by savvyclub
Dear Friends,
Event planning is a very challenging, time consuming and high-pressured career choice. You are constantly under time constraints and at the mercy of people’s whims. There is not a day goes by that there isn’t a deadline to meet…and I love it!
I know that it is not everyone’s idea of fun and not every day is going to be as enjoyable as the next, but I get such a buzz out of what I do. I’m proud of what I achieve and how happy I can make other people.
Some of you may have read a little about my background on this site and you’ll know a little about the inspiration that my dear friend and mentor, Roshan, had on me. I was shown how important socializing and creating marvelous events were to both your business and personal life. The magic and wonder that was created through the incredible detail and imagination those event organizers thought of and executed so elegantly, seamlessly and passionately lit a fire in me. And I knew eventually that was where I should focus my time and talent.
There are many reasons I chose and continue to love my career. Here are just a few!
- The relief on someone’s face when I say ‘I can handle that for you’
- The excitement of seeing all your carefully laid plans come together
- Making an idea into reality – a creative and logical process
- Nailing deadlines. Every. Time.
- Seeing the enjoyment of people who are involved in the event
- The pride when you get excellent feedback
- The opportunity to help someone who puts all their trust in you
Yes, a lot of this job is very rewarding. I love being able to offer people an incredible experience, without the stress I know comes with the organizing!
I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Kind regards,
Kim Rix
