The World’s Biggest Christmas Shopping Day
Nov 25th, 2010 by savvyclub
Dear friends,
Christmas shopping – you either love or hate it. You? Me – I hate it! Have you done yours yet? Personally, the very idea of Christmas shopping fills me with dread….bustling crowds, long queues, can’t find what I want, cold weather. Are you are one of those people who love the chaos of leaving your Christmas shopping to the last minute?
Either way, I would like to make a few suggestions to help make your Christmas shopping more pleasing:
The World’s Biggest Christmas Shopping Day
Have you heard of the World’s Biggest Christmas Shopping Day? Otherwise known as the West End VIP day (Very Important Pedestrians), on 27 November, the West End of London will be a traffic free zone. What’s more, if you are one of the lucky ones who live within a one mile radius of Oxford and Regent Street, you could get a free taxi ride home with all your shopping bags! Follow this link for more information about the West End VIP Day.
Visit a Christmas market
There are a multitude of Christmas markets in London to choose from. My favourite Christmas market is Greenwich. The market is usually jam-packed with interesting knick-nacks and unusual stalls. Greenwich particularly appeals to me because I love arts’n'crafts and the smell of old antique shops.
If you work in the City, and you need some help getting into the Christmas spirit, The Leadenhall Winter Festival will do just that, I’m sure. It has such a festive atmosphere about it and there’s always a wonderful cinnamon smell of Gluwein that I absolutely love.
Anyway, VisitLondon.com have compiled an extensive list of the main Christmas markets in and around London.
Not forgetting that there are plenty of Christmas markets around the UK too.
Vintage Style Christmas Shopping
My final suggestion is probably the most glamorous (out of the three). If being pampered whilst you shop is more your style and idea of fun (as is mine), then this could be the event for you. 12 December is the date for your diary.
Cupcakes, mulled wine, cocktails, a Modern Vintage catwalk show, Indian head massages…need I say more? Here’s the link to this pamper affair for ladies with flair!
I know, it’s all good fun really. Happy shopping everyone!
best regards,
Kim Rix
