Three Event Ideas to Help You Celebrate the Royal Wedding
Jan 11th, 2011 by savvyclub
Dear friends of The SaVVy Club®,
As I’m sure you’re well aware by now, London is the centre of a great deal of wedding buzz. The Royal Wedding is expected to deliver a major boost to tourism and the British economy.
Don’t forget, just around the corner is the 2012 Queen’s Diamond Jubilee event and London’s hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It sounds like the Royal Wedding is the perfect lead up to these other significant London events. People are predicting that the Royal Wedding will be one the biggest broadcast events in history, giving a great opportunity to advertise Britain as a tourist destination as well as promoting the country’s culture and heritage worldwide.
For those of you who would like to get personally involved, here are three event suggestions:
Take an exclusive evening tour of Buckingham Palace
When: 2, 3, 8, 9, 14, 16, 22, 23, 28 & 30 January 2011.
Would you like to know more about the history and use of the State Rooms? This Exclusive Evening Tour of Buckingham Palace offers you a special insight and an opportunity to look at the works of art on display.
The tour lasts about two hours, hosted by an expert guide. It includes a copy of the official guidebook and you get a glass of champagne to enjoy in the Bow Room.
Organise your own street party
Interested in organising your own street party? You would be wise to check the rules and regulations with your own County Council. However Northampton County Council have put together an excellent guide to help you navigate your way around the permissions, insurance and licenses which could be needed.
The Will&Kate Royal Wedding Walk
You could take a two-and-a-half-hour stroll around London’s streets to visit sites that have helped define the royal couple’s relationship.
The tour begins with some royal history at the birthplace of Queen Elizabeth II; there will be a visit to Garrard’s Jewellers, the Royal family’s Jewellers since 1843 and the creator of the famous sapphire engagement ring on Miss Middleton’s finger — formerly given to Princess Diana by Prince Charles.
It sounds interesting. Click on the link for the full itinerary.
I’m sure there will be lots more Royal Wedding Events cropping up over the next few weeks and months. If I hear of any interesting ones, I will keep you posted. If you are planning an Event of your own, tell us and we might be able to help you get the word out!
Feel free to leave a comment – and don’t forget to come back soon!
Kind regards,

I do like the idea of a street party, especially if there is more chance of you actually being able to get the necessary licenses with it being a royal wedding. Sounds like an idea, I hope my local council has a guide similair to that of the Northampton County Council. If not I’ll just do what I usually do to celebrate – sushi and sake at Yo Sushi Kings Cross and then onwards to Camden Town for a night out on the town in celebration of the Royal Wedding.
The street party sounds pretty good. This wedding will be historical!
